The Congo-Nile Divide Project team trained on FMES System

The Congo-Nile Divide Project team is receiving a five-day training on the Forest Monitoring and Evaluation System (FMES), which is the central computerized system managing forest resources. It comprises District Forest Management Planning tools (DFMP), Forest Indicators and Reports for the sustainable management of public and private forest resources. FMES strives to achieve economic profitability, preservation of the environment and improvement of living conditions of the local population.

The Forest Monitoring and Evaluation System (FMES) supports and eases: 

  • The registration of information related to forest stands and areas under Agroforestry; 

  • The record of areas affected by fires, deforestation, or under restoration; 

  • Calculation and monitoring of 24 key forestry sector indicators.
